Father Vernon Boyd, S.J.
Our new Pastor, Fr. Vernon P. Boyd, S.J., was born and raised in Flin Flon, Manitoba. Upon completing his undergraduate studies at St. Paul’s College, a Jesuit College affiliated with the University of Manitoba, he entered the Jesuit Novitiate in Guelph, Ontario in 1976. He was ordained in 1986. He was then missioned to teach in Jesuit high schools administered by the Jesuit Canadian Province. He has taught at Loyola High School in Montreal, Gonzaga High School and St. Bonaventure’s College in St. John’s Newfoundland.
has served in a number of capacities and roles as a Jesuit priest. He was appointed
Superior to the Jesuit Community in St. John’s and appointed President
and Principal of St. Bonaventure’s College. He served as a Consultor for
many years to the Jesuit Provincial of the Jesuits in English Canada. Prior
to his appointment to Holy Rosary, Fr. Boyd was the Administrator of Good Shepherd
Parish in Ottawa since 2008. Further apostolic works over the years have included,
prison ministry, hospital ministry, and youth ministry. He has also worked in
the Canadian Jesuit mission in Jamaica.
Father Roger grew up in small towns in Saskatchewan. He attended Campion College in Regina, Saskatchewan for his high schooling, boarding there from 1956 to 1960. His vocation brought him to Guelph to do his noviciate and juniorate immediately after completing high school. In 1964, he studied philosophy in Spokane, Washington, USA and then moved back to Campion College to teach along with Fr. Bernie Carroll. Two years later he attended Regis College at the University of Toronto for theology studies. He was ordained in 1971.
Another stint at Campion College was followed by four years of graduate studies in Berkeley, California, USA, in religion and personality sciences. He was Novice Director in Guelph from 1978 to 1983. He continued to work for the Order as Fundraiser, Formation Director, Local Superior and Assistant to the Provincial. He has just finished three years working as a chaplain at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
He comes to Guelph now for the third time, saying each time it gets better. He will divide his time between Holy Rosary Parish and Loyola House.
Sandy comes to the Parish Administrator position with years of experience in the business community and as a long-time volunteer at St. Patrick and St. James schools. As a consultant and facilitator, she helped many organizations improve their performance and engage their workforce more effectively. Sandy has sat on non-profit boards, and has been involved in a number of area non-profit organizations, helping to make Guelph a better community, especially for those most vulnerable.
Sandy graduated from the University of Western Ontario and she was recently chosen to participate in Leadership Guelph/Wellington, a year-long commitment to improving her leadership skills for the betterment of the community.
“My hope is that by managing the office and administrative duties of Holy Rosary, our pastor will have more time to spend with you, his parishioners, on the pastoral issues that are so important,” said Sandy, a parishioner at Holy Rosary for more than 10 years.
Lay Pastoral Associate
Wendy’s call and desire is to serve Christ working in youth ministry. She has nine years experience working as a teacher, training & recruitment administrator, and educational consultant, for Residential Child and Youth Care Services. Wendy has volunteered in the Young offenders unit, Christian youth drop-in centre and various youth advisory committees.
Wendy has an Honours Graduate
Insurance Administration Diploma from Mohawk, College, Hamilton. She developed
her leadership and risk management skills as a senior commercial underwriter
for eleven years.
Committed to youth, Wendy is currently completing her Canadian Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies with St. Peter’s Institute for Catholic Formation.

her passion and experience to the parish in her role as elementary and youth
Stephen comes to Holy Rosary with 15 years of choral experience. He has a Bachelor of Music with Honors in Performance and a Bachelor of Education from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario where he grew up. He became part of the family of Holy Rosary through his joining the RCIA program. From the moment he set foot in the church, he knew he wanted to be a part of the music ministry; at the time he didn’t know he would soon be Choir Master! Stephen is the Band and Vocal Director at Centre Wellington District High School in Fergus, Ontario where he directs an award winning show choir and a symphonic band in a vibrant music program. He is also the proud husband and father of a beautiful growing family.
Stephen is looking forward to continuing the growth of the ministry, looking to the future, always welcoming new members for both the main choir and the youth choir. Stephen is truly blessed to be a part of sharing the message of God through the music ministry and looks forward to many more years of creating wonderful music, increasing the worship of the parish through music with our members, our instrumentalists and the pastoral staff of Holy Rosary.
Marina grew up in Guelph and has family who are members of our Parish. Marina came to us with excellent experience in administration, most recently as casual for the Wellington Catholic District School Board. Marina has brought her own brand of efficiency to bear in the office and is a tremendous help to all staff and parishioners.
